What is pillar page?

A pillar page is the comprehensive page at the center of a topic cluster: it covers the topic broadly and links out to the supporting pages that go into detail.

What it means

A pillar page gives readers a map of the topic. The details live in the supporting pages. The pillar links out to them, and they link back.

How to use it

If you have lots of scattered pieces on one topic, start by deciding whether you need a pillar page to tie them together. The pillar shouldn’t answer the same question as any of its supporting pages.
